Two Months of Eat Pray Love

“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.” - Andre Gide

It has always been a dream of mine to stay in a foreign country for more than a week. For my entire life my immigrant parents taught me to push myself and work my butt off! If you know me, I'm always grinding away, head swirling with a million ideas, and trying my best to help others. You might say, I'm living anxiously for the future and never truly living in the present.

I was extremely fortunate that my incredible employer, David&Goliath, has allotted me a two month vacation for me to get my "Eat Pray Love" journey on. David Angelo, the founder and my personal mentor, told me to "LET GO!" How cool is that?

On top of everything, my best friend of 23+ years Claudia will be doing this journey with me! So we will be able to share our experiences together. She's an avid traveler, so mapping where to go was one of the hardest parts of planning for this trip. The qualifications for deciding our destinations were threefold: 1. Places we both haven’t been to  2. Places that are far from Los Angeles and 3. Places you need more than a week to explore.

I will be trying to document as much as wi-fi allows me to, so check back here or follow my instagram

Where we are going

India (March 2 - March 23): Dehli, Agra, Jaipur, Udaipur, Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Varansi - Rishikesh is the founding city of yoga and is known as the "yoga capital of the world." We will be spending 5 days learning from the Parmarth Niketan Ashram and teaching yoga in the city.

Sri Lanka (March 23 - April 9): Galle, Midigama, Tagalle, Yalla, Ella, Nuwara Eliya, Dambulla, and Colombo - We will be staying five days at West Coast House, a yoga and surf house teaching yoga. Then tour around the country for 9 days. I'm excited to go on the safaris and see the herd of wild elephants.

Eastern Australia (April 9 - May 1): Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast, and Cairns - We will be bouncing city to city 4 days each and see the best of each major city. We will be spending one week at the Krishna Village and getting our yoga on, before heading to the Great Barrier Reef.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ― Mark Twain

What's in my bag

What do you pack when you want to go away for two months? Luckily for us the places that we will be traveling to will be warm, so that saves us from bringing bulky clothing.

This also makes more room for me to bring my bulky laptop and camera. I also love not missing any historic details, especially when you don't know how great the English is going to be with your tour guide, so I'm packing some Lonely Planet books, that I will be leaving behind after I'm done with the country.

I also have the best luggage/backpack from REI by Osprey called the 22" Meridian Bag, which is carry-on friendly. It has many compartments, comes with a de-attachable day bag, and best of all it's a backpack with wheels! Remember those kids who had backpacks with wheels in school? It turns out that it's actually really hard to find these bags.
